A renowned figure in Belgian design, Maarten van Severen gained acclaim by merging minimalist simplicity and day-to-day practicality in his works. Born in 1956, he originally studied architecture before turning his focus to interior design. In the 1980s he began to design furniture, with an eye towards eliminating unnecessary elements to achieve clarity in form and utility.
