Born in 1932, acclaimed Finnish designer Eero Aarnio changed the face of industrial design through his groundbreaking use of plastic. The Pony takes the appearance of a well-loved plaything while functionally assuming the role of a chair. The result? A seat, if not a conventional chair, with simple, rounded shapes that are sure to delight children and adults alike.

The Design:
- From the incomparable mind of Eero Aarnio rose the Pony, a seat that defies our expectations of what a seat should be. As he put it, "A chair is a chair, is a chair, is a chair ... but a seat does not necessarily have to be a chair. It can be anything as long as it is ergonomically correct. A seat could even be a small and soft Pony on which you can 'ride' or sit sideways."
- The Pony features a sturdy metal frame with a plush, cuddly exterior. It consists of a tubular frame around which molded foam is affixed and then topped with soft fabric. The result is a seat that provides stable support as well as yielding comfort.
- While the Pony represents a departure from Aarnio's extensive work with fiberglass, its appearance is characteristically Aarnio. Smooth curves form an endearing, evocative piece that appeals to all ages.
